   • (Past continuous لوصف حدوث عملين مستمرين في الوقت نفسه في الماضي)
2. Last year, we visited Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower.
   • (Past simple لوصف أفعال منتهية في الماضي)
3. She was cooking dinner when the phone rang.
   • (Past continuous لوصف فعل مستمر قُطع بفعل آخر في past simple)
4. When I was a child, I went to the park every weekend.
   • (Past simple لوصف عادة في الماضي)
5. The sun was setting and the birds were singing when we arrived.
