Past Continuous (প্রেটেরিট কন্টিনিউয়াস) সম্পর্কে কোর্স - TOEIC® প্রস্তুতি

1. Past Continuous (বা প্রেটেরিট কন্টিনিউয়াস) এর গঠন

- ধনাত্মক বাক্যের জন্য, subject + was/were + -ing গঠন ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- নাকারণ বাক্যের জন্য, subject + was/were + not + -ing গঠন ব্যবহার করা হয়।
- প্রশ্নবোধক বাক্যের জন্য, was/were + subject + -ing + ? গঠন ব্যবহার করা হয়।
সাধারণ ভুলসমূহ
- তৃতীয় পুরুষ একবচনে "were" ব্যবহার করা:
- ভুল: We were reading a book.
- ঠিক: We was reading a book.
2. কখন Past Continuous (বা প্রেটেরিট কন্টিনিউয়াস) ব্যবহার করবেন?
2.1. অতীতে চলমান কাজ
সাধারণভাবে, Past Continuous ব্যবহৃত হয় এমন ক্রিয়াকলাপ বা কাজ বোঝাতে, যা অতীতে কোনো নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে চলমান ছিল।
- Yesterday at 8 PM, I was watching a movie.
2.2. অতীতে বাধাগ্রস্ত/বিচ্ছিন্ন কাজ
উপরের ধারাবাহিকতায়, Past Continuous ব্যবহৃত হয় এমন কাজের জন্য যা অতীতে চলছিল কিন্তু কোনো ঘটনায় বাধাগ্রস্ত হয়েছিল।
- Yesterday at 8 PM, I was watching a movie when my friend called me.
Past Continuous এর সময়-সূচক শব্দসমূহ
“while”, “when”, “at that moment” ইত্যাদি এক্সপ্রেশন Past Continuous এর সাথে ব্যবহার করা হয়, যাতে বোঝানো যায় কখন বা কতক্ষণ কোনো কাজ চলছিল।
- While she was waiting for the bus, she met an old friend.
- Josephine was writing on the whiteboard when her phone rang.
- At that moment, Josephine was writing on the whiteboard.
🎯 টিপসঃ যদি TOEIC® পরীক্ষার বাক্যে এই সময়সূচক এক্সপ্রেশনগুলোর সাথে Past Simple (she met, rang, ...) দেখেন, তাহলে আপনি প্রায় নিশ্চিত থাকতে পারেন যে ব্যবহৃত tense হচ্ছে Past Continuous!
