अंग्रेज़ी में भूतकाल की विभिन्न रूपें
अंग्रेज़ी में दो प्रकार की भूतकाल की रूपें होती हैं:
- Past Simple : Last year, I went to China
- Past Continuous : I was writing when my phone rang
⚠️ वास्तव में, present perfect और past perfect भी भूतकाल की रूपें मानी जाती हैं, लेकिन इनके लिए हमारे पास अलग पाठ्यक्रम है।
Prétérit और past simple एक ही चीज़ हैं, ये केवल एक ही बात को कहने के अलग-अलग तरीके हैं।
Prétérit progressif, prétérit continu, past continuous, prétérit progressif भी अलग-अलग अभिव्यक्तियाँ हैं लेकिन इनका मतलब एक ही है।
प्रयोग के संदर्भ
ये दोनों रूपें भूतकाल में अलग-अलग संदर्भों में इस्तेमाल होती हैं।
Past Simple प्रयोग किया जाता है:
- एक क्रिया जो पूरी तरह समाप्त हो गई हो : Last year, I went to China
- भूतकाल में कई क्रियाओं की श्रृंखला : He entered the room, turned on the light, and sat down.
- भूतकाल में कोई आदत : When I was a child, I played outside every day.
- भूतकाल में कोई सामान्य तथ्य या सत्य : In the 19th century, people traveled by horse and carriage.
Past Continuous प्रयोग किया जाता है:
- भूतकाल में किसी निश्चित समय पर प्रगति में कोई क्रिया : I was reading a book at 8 PM last night.
- ऐसी क्रिया जिसे दूसरी क्रिया ने बीच में रोका हो : I was cooking when the phone rang.
- भूतकाल में दो क्रियाएँ एक साथ चल रही हों : While I was studying, my brother was playing video games.
- कहानी के संदर्भ का वर्णन : The sun was setting, and the birds were singing.
TOEIC® के लिए अभ्यास
सही रूप चुनो:
- While I __ (to watch) TV, my brother __ (to play) outside.
- Last year, we __ (to visit) Paris and __ (to see) the Eiffel Tower.
- She __ (to cook) dinner when the phone __ (to ring).
- When I was a child, I __ (to go) to the park every weekend.
- The sun __ (to set) and the birds __ (to sing) when we arrived.
