I will come tomorrow.”
He said he would come the next day.”
- She said she would call me later.
She said: ‘I will call you later.'
- I knew you would pass the exam.
- They promised they would be on time.
- We were sure he would get the job.

用“Was / Were going to”表达过去的计划或意图
“Was / were going to”表达的是过去有某个意图、计划或很大可能性。
- I was going to travel to Spain last year, but then I got sick.
- He told me he was going to buy a new car.
He told me: ‘I am going to buy a new car.’
- They were going to visit us, but they changed their minds.
- We were going to start the meeting at 9 a.m., but the boss was late.
用“Was / Were about to”表达过去视角下的即将发生
“Was / were about to”表示某个动作在过去某一时刻就要马上发生,突出过去中的即将发生。
- I was about to leave when you called.
- They were about to launch the product, but they discovered a major flaw.
- She was about to enter the room when she heard a strange noise.
用“Was / Were to”表达注定或官方计划
- He was to become the next CEO.
- The ceremony was to start at 10 a.m. sharp.
- They were to meet again only five years later.
